Fitness Plan: June 12, 2013

For nearly two weeks, I have been following an exercise plan and eating a healthier, more clean diet. I want to say that what I have been doing (for only two weeks) has made a significant difference in my lifestyle and how I feel and look. Here are the changes I have noticed: I have more energy even though my sleep schedule is not the best, I am more creative and relaxed with art, my clothes that fit nicely are getting loos around the waste, I feel stronger and more able, I can run/walk/jog a mile without dying for a couple days, and even my mom has noticed that I look better. I do not like to weigh myself because the number not only doesn't matter very much but also can give a false perception of yourself. I used to weigh myself every day but I completely stopped. Now I go by look and feel because if you feel tired, sluggish, and weak, but weigh a perfectly fine number, doesn't mean you are healthy. It is really exciting because the videos I have been doing are long and hard and I cannot do it without breaks, sometimes I don't finish, and some days I need to do only one or two. The program is suppose to make you lose 4% of your weight in one month. I didn't take a before picture but at the end of the month, I am going to buy myself some jeans or a top that is a new size and that I like as a little reward. I actually look forward to my mile run and Fridays now...I have always liked running but I have had asthma and fatigue my whole life but now that I have cured those, I was able to try again. It was more enjoyable but I still hated how I felt. Now I am strong enough to run!!! I am so happy! I really want to run the Color Run with my best friend...I love this! It is exciting! I cant wait to update you at the end of the month!

9 Fun Summer Past-Times

Hey guys! Summer is quickly approaching and school is almost over! Everyone loves the fact that we have a bunch a spare time but as soon as school is out, we seem to get bored and lay around watching TV and surfing the web. Then it turns out to be not as fun and exciting as we expected. So my brother and I have decided to come up with a few ideas to keep you busy during the summer.

  1. Make a Reading List. This is always a good way to keep your brain agile so that when school starts up, your brain will not have to catch up so quickly. I always like to buy books and then say "I can't read it YET! I still need to finish the books that I just got from the library!" And then they get forgotten and land up gathering dust. So the first books on my list are from my own house. But if your library is within reasonable walking distance, you could also get moving and borrow books from there instead.
    • My choices include many classics I have never read such as Little Women by Louise May Alcott, many books by Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, and more current books like the Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare and Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.
  2. Buy a Sketchbook. I am an artist and I love to draw, but I think that everyone should at least try to do some art and sketchbooks are actually really inexpensive. You don't need the fancy special paper or binding; just a spiral bound normal paper book would work great! If you do want to get one for Multi Media, then you could use wet mediums too instead of only dry.
  3. Square-a-Day Challenge. You know how you always buy lots of graph paper at the beginning of the year and then have some left over? Well now you can put some creativity into it! Now a regular piece of 1/4 inch square graph paper has 1299 entire squares...It would take 3 and a half years to fill it out with only one square a day (a cool challenge but WAY too long for summer). So here is my advice: cut one piece of graph paper into fourths (20x15 not including the border) and then you only to 3 squares a day. Then you can do one pattern, one object, and one letter everyday and you will have such a wonderful piece of art to put in a scrapbook or memory box! And you can share!
  4. Make the Stuff You Pin on Pinterest. Face it girls. We don't do that. So this summer, how about we all make the stuff on our boards! It would be so fun to see what could happen and what holy grail recipes or creations we will find!
    • I found one recipe for grain free pancakes that are the best things I have ever tasted! I eat it most days! I can do a post on how I cook them if you want!
  5. Re-Do Your Closet. I don't know about you guys but I am always so busy in spring (or if spring is really a 2 week period between freezing winter and boiling summer) that I can never rearrange my closet. So summertime is the best time because it is completely different from winter and fall so no warm clothes or pajamas would be needed!
    • It is also great to remake some stuff. Add embellishment to things or add some flair! I am turning some torn up jeans into shorts and making them gorgeous!!!
  6. Go Through Your Makeup Collection. So this is a good time to go through your cosmetics and hair collection to see if anything has expired or if you don't like something anymore. This is also part of the spring cleaning in summertime. You could even reorganize or relocate your collection to change stuff up!
  7. Take Summer Classes or Workshops. Lots of art schools, dance companies, and other things have summer workshops  that are really fun and definitely worth it! You could even take a school class but if that is not exactly your picture for summer, there are so many other options!
    • I am actually taking a school class (Algebra 2) so that I don't need to next school year. I am half a year through and I don't want to have separate subject in the same year (I am taking AP Pre Calculus next year). I am also doing lots of dance intensives and maybe an art workshop in there!
  8. Start a Blog. If you don't have a blog and you are passionate about something (or multiple things) then a blog is a great idea! I started mine for a past time one summer and I have enjoyed it immensely!
  9. Get in Shape. Because there is no school to worry about, we can think about how to improve our lives. One way that makes life easier is to get in shape and be healthier. you are at home so you can think about what you are eating most of the time. And whenever you think of it, you can go exercise! I personally wear less makeup in the summer since so much of it just melts off...that also allows me to not worry about exercising with makeup on.
Well those are my ideas! What are your ideas/plans for summertime?

100 Crunches/Weights/Jumping Jacks

So last night I did 100 crunches, 100 jumping jacks, and 100 reps with 8 lbs. weights...ow. My abs are sore, my legs are sore ( but not too much) and my arms are sore...

I did arm lifts which are lifting the arms to the side to about an 85 degree angle while keeping the arms straight. I did 15 palms up and 15 palms down. Then I did 15 bicep curls, 15 arm sling backs, and 25 vertical arm lifts which are taking one weight in both hands behind your head (elbows up) and straightening your arms. The arms should be a little bit behind your ears for maximum effect! The last 15 reps I did were lying down arm lifts. I lied down and took my arms side and lifted them up till they were right above my chest ( but my arms were straight).

The crunches and jumping jacks were all normal, same ol' same ol'...I am trying to do 100 abdominal exercises every night so that I can get stronger or pointe. I am also watching my diet and opting for fruit and veggies.

My favorite meal for fast food (because I eat that a lot...) is at Chick-fil-a. I get their number 9 (chicken salad sandwich) which is only 500 calories. I eat half and then get a diet lemonade which I am guessing is maybe 50? So sometimes I get a yogurt parfait with cookie crumbs which is 350 calories so... not the best decision but honestly, they are so good! With the other half of my sandwich I eat it for lunch the next day and pair it with some water and usually sugar snap peas (one of my favorites) for a healthy lunch.

I am pretty much the odd one out of my family in the way that everyone has very fast metabolism and I don't :( so at night I get the veggies before they are drowned in butter and only get a real serving of meat (size of a deck cards) instead of the rest of them. I've tried to get them to eat better and I have succeeded at some things but they are all a very stubborn but I love them :)

What do you do for exercise and diet?

May '13 Glam Bag from Ipsy

Hey! I just got my Glam bag for this month!

The first thing in here was the Pacifica Roll On Perfume in Island Vanilla! I was actually going to buy this! It is so yummy!

The next thing is the Zoya brand Nail Polish in Julie! I could never find this brand anywhere! And the color is a lilac with silver pearlescent finish.

Then there is a concealer in the pan to put in the magnetic pallet that was given in the last glam bag. It is in Honey and is from Yaby. It is a cream to powder finish and it matches my skin tone pretty well!

Then there is a Mirabella lipstick in Posy which it fairly sheer but is buildable! It is a nice rose pink color.

Lastly I have the Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl bronzing body butter. It smells amazing and adds a nice amount of shimmer!

Did you like the Glam bag You got?

May '13 Hair Care Routine

I just wanted to share what I use on my hair every time I wash or don't wash it!
  • Whenever I wash my hair, I use the L'Oreal Ever Crème Shampoo and Conditioner that don't have sulfates, salts, and nasty chemicals like that! I love the smell and they are very inexpensive for such a great product! After that and when I get out, I put in an anti=frizz treatment. I use the Healthy Sexy Hair Treatment with Argon Oil. This helps my hair dry faster and shinier,
  • When I do not wash my hair, I use any dry shampoo but what I am using now the by Batiste. Then I put in a slit ends protector so that they don't get all frizzy.
  • Sometimes I replace my conditioner with Garnier Fructis Hydra Recharge 1-Minute Treatment. It is so nice and light but really does help moisturize.
That is everything! What do you use?

Burt's Bee Toes and Tips Sample Kit

Hey! I know I am not posting a lot but that is because I don't really like posting...So, from now on I am going to post just about life and only for myself. I made a mistake and did what I thought would get me followers. I am not going to worry about anyone and make this a place to help me! I hope that if you like it, you will follow me! I will be doing requests so go ahead and leave them!
So today I bought this Burt's Bees kit today for $13 and I already love it! It has 6 items that are for hands, feet, and lips. Here are my first impressions:
  • Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream: This smells A-MA-ZING!!! It's mildly like almond milk but it is a lot sweeter smelling. It also melts really nicely into the skin and definitely does wonders for dry skin!
  • Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil: This is so great! It is very smooth, like all their lip balms, but it doesn't have the tingling minty feeling. I don't always like this so this is amazing. It also has a beautiful pink tint that is very natural but perfect for every day!
  • Hand Salve: My mom swears by this stuff! My dog even likes it. She will eat it any time she can...It smells peppermint and it does hurt on open wounds :( It helps for almost open wounds.
  • Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream: This smells great! Lemons!!! and it really softens the cuticles!
  • Thoroughly Therapeutic Honey and Grapeseed Oil Hand Cream: OMG that is a long name...but this soaks into the skin so quickly! So it is great for hands since no one likes that yucky slippery feeling after lotion and then everything slicks out of your hands! It smells ok but I probably wouldn't buy the full size.
  • Coconut Foot Cream: This I would buy the full size! even after trying it (well my mom did...My feet already have lotion but it was gushing out so I put some on my hands) once! It smells great and melts really well! It soaks in pretty well but I would wear socks at night so it doesn't get all over my sheets...
That is everything! I am really excited for this "new era" of blogging for me! I hope you guys like it too!

March '13 Empties/Favorites

It is already the end of March! We are a fourth of the way into 2013! Have you kept any new years resolutions? How is life? Enjoying Spring Break? Already enjoyed it and now you are sad at work or school? Well I have some favorite products this month and plenty of empties!

Favorites:
  • The Balm's What's Your Type "the bodybuilder" Mascara in Black- I got this sample in a glam bag and, depending on the price, would actually think about buying again! now if it is more than $10 which it probably is, then probably not but if it was $10, I might pick it up. I like the wet-but-not-runny formula and the brush is pretty cool! It can clump with too many swipes but I really enjoy the affect. The only thing they could change is making it hold a curl better.
  • Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Face Primer- I finished up the primer that I was mixing with the foundation I am using up, so I tried the Pixi sample I got from Ipsy and when that did not suffice, I decided to use the Rimmel primer. This is so good! I do not need more than a pea sized amount and it keeps the foundation on for many hours more that the others!
  • LA Colors 6-pan Eyeshadow Palette in Café au Lait- I finally used up one of the colors! I used the cream highlight but I have been literally wearing this everyday not just because I am trying to use it up! I have found many other techniques to use with this and I am a little sad that I need a new highlight but that's ok! It was only a dollar so I might repurchase but I will have to see...
  • ELF All Over Color Stick in Pink Lemonade- I have been using this quite often this month! I put it on right before my translucent powder and it looks so natural but is a nice and bright spring color! I use my fingers to apply to warm it up but blend with an angled blush brush!
Empties:
  • 99 cent Nivea Crème Tin- This stuff saved me in the super cold and dry months! I cannot live without this in the winter! I have two tins but I only used up one. Even though I am using a lighter oil for the spring, it was still very wintery here in the beginning of March so I was able to use it up!
  • Makeup Essentials mascara- I got this is a travel kit and It has finally been used enough to not even darken my lashes a little. I am really glad I used this up because now I only have four mascaras...
  • Lip Smackers lip balm in Kiwi Kooler- I finally used this up! I literally dug out the last bit because I love Lip Smackers...
  • Estee Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer- I did not really like this. I am glad it was only a sample I had to use up. I got it at a consignment store along with a Lancôme lipstick for $3! It had gold glitter in it and actually did not make the foundations last much longer. I liked the lipstick though!
  • Tresame Tres Two Spray extra hold(4) non-aerosol Hair Spray- this was a mini and I have two so I at least wanted to use one up. I actually would recommend this hair spray! Especially if you are a dancer, this will hold your hair in a sleek bun or pony tail or anything else you want smooth! The only down side is the smell but that is for all Tresamme products.
  • Tresame Fresh Start Dry Shampoo- This was ok! I do not think that it is really worth rebuying but I am really picky about that! It is definitely something to try! It was really nice for holding soft curls or giving body to your 'do!
  • Cover Girl Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in Onyx- I do not think they even sell this anymore but it is used up or dried out but it does not draw a line so its finally gone! And it turned blue so that was a little weird...

Hair/Skincare Update!

Hey everyone! I am using up a bunch of stuff now that I have started using up my makeup. Even shampoo and skincare. So I am here to share what I was using and what I am going to use next!

Shampoo/Conditioner: I was using the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Conditioner and the Volume Express Shampoo. They were repurchases but I do not think I will get them again because I have found something amazing! The L'Oreal Evercreme Shampoo and Conditioner. They are sulfate free and they smell like coconut milk and they made my hair SO amazing! I cannot stress this enough! I usually need an antifrizz cream or serum in my hair after washing, but with this, I did not! It was so soft and shiny!
Body Wash: I was using the Dove Winter Care Crème Body wash (for the winter, of course). I love this because it heals the dry skin like nothing else I have tried! I also finished a Softsoap Mini bottle of Moisturizing Body Wash and it was ok. It really smelled like hand soap though (no surprise there). So then I just went to Target last night and bought an Aveeno Body wash. It is a Positively Nourishing Antioxidant Infused body wash scented White Peach and Ginger. It smells amazing and I cannot wait to use it tonight!
Skincare: I was using the St. Ives Green Tea wash but it was making my face red because it had soap and I have very sensitive skin. I found one from Neutrogena Naturals (their Acne Face Wash) without parabens and without soap. It cleared my skin up so well, I was shocked. In the morning I use Juice Beauty Hydrating Mist to tone because the one I use at night (L'Oreal Hydrafresh) needs to be applied with a cotton ball and rubbed on the skin and it makes my face look a bit red. I got this sample in a Glam Bag and when I am out, I am probably going to purchase or ask for it for my birthday or something because it is amazing and has helped a lot. I use the Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer day and night. It is just what the title says it is! It has no perfume or dyes and has Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Borage Seed Oil, and Glycerin which are all great for soft and healthy skin.

Life Updates: So I have been trying to read more and I am reading the second book of the Earthsea Cycle by Ursula Guinn and I picked up another book called The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro. I love mysteries and art so I thought "eh why not?". So I am going to read this tonight or in a day or two...Whatever works right? I start dance again next week and I am so out of the dancer groove even after having only 4 classes off...But I got adjustments on my pointe shoes so they fit better now! Should I do a pointe shoe post? I did art class today and we are painting birds and flowers with text and I finished one other painting so I will probably do a post about that soon...Anything else you want to see?

February '13 Favorites/Empties

Hello! Happy March! I feel like February just flew by ;) But I have my empties and favorites this month!
     Favorites:
  • Maybelline Mineral Power loose powder in Light 2: This is a very fine powder that does not really settle but gives a nice finish and coverage for lighter foundation or one of those "I really need more on my face" days :)
  • NYC Liquid Eyeliner in Black: This has a nice brush tip which I think works a bit better than a felt tip applicator. It is a little watery but I have been using it most days!
  • Maybelline Eye shadow Duo in Browntones: The lighter shade is a little darker than my skin tone so when I do my eye makeup in the morning I put this in my crease to fade out the other eye shadows. I used to think this was unnecessary but when I tried it, I was in love and now I never don't do it! And all you guys with darker skin, the darker shade should work for you.
  • The Balm What's Your Type mascara in Black: I got a little sample in my Glam Bag and this is a nice wet formula that is not low pigment. It can clump easily but I don't mind dealing with it!
     Empties:
  • Elf Essential Pressed Powder in Ivory: This is such a nice powder for $1! It is perfect for throwing in your purse for touchups because it has the high pigmentation and the oil absorbing factor. I wouldn't recommend for really dry skin but everyone else should at least try.
  • Wet n Wild $.99 Lipstick in 547B:THis wasn't bad but it was very frosty and smelled really fake but it was only a dollar. Personally I would just get something from a different brand and spend a bit more. The color is a light peachy pink.
  • A random tinted lip balm that I don't really remember and cant say much about because the label came off :(
  • Shady Kiss Lip Balm: This was clearance at Ulta and I got it and, again, it wasn't bad but my dog decided that it tasted good....and ate it.
SO that's every thing! Love you guys! BTW, I got the eye shadow idea from ittybittyannie from YouTube. She uses it in every tutorial and she is really amazing!

Makeup Line Review: Maybelline Fit Me

Hey guys so if you have been to the drugstore lately then you have probably seen one of the newer lines from Maybelline, the Fit Me line. This claims to be lightweight with coverage and fits every tone of skin. I have one of each product in this line and I have to be honest...I am very impressed!
I just want to say that I have no clue why my eyes are brown here...They are supposed to be blue...

The Foundation, $5.50, shade 115: This is very smooth and does fit my skin tone perfectly! It melts perfectly into my skin and covers with a really natural finish that is a little dewy but does not look greasy! But here is the thing, I have combo/normal skin. For people with very oily skin this may or may not work. It is a very oil resistant so I would still try it if you want an inexpensive natural coverage.
The Concealer, $5, shade 15: There are only 6 concealer colors and this is the pink toned light. Thankfully it matches but it is kind of weird how there are only a few shades. I am an NW20 in MAC concealers but I don't think it matches perfectly. It covers very well and also looks very natural. It does not last as long against oil as the foundations so oily skinned people, tread with caution!
The Powder, $5.50, shade 125: The shade 115, was white. just saying. Every single one. The 125 matches the 115 foundation so there is a random tip. Another thing is that there is shimmer in it. It is not noticeable on my face but there is some in the packaging. This is very natural and is a nice setting powder It gives a nice finish so it would be great as a quick touch up or something to top a tinted moisturizer. This also works well with the rest of the line.
The Blush, $5, Deep Rose: This was the darkest shade I could find and this looks beautiful on my fair skin! Not dark but extremely similar to my natural flush! For those of you who feel like a ghost because of your gorgeous fair skin, the light colors may work. This one had a bit of a sheen/satin finish so the light ones should give a nice glow! The for darker skin colors, the dark ones may have only a glowing effect
I did not try the bronzer since I got the blush so that is it! I love everything in the line especially the blush! Love you guys! Have you tried this line?

How to Downsize Your Makup Collection

Hey!!!! So in December, I wanted to downsize my collection because I didn't use a lot and I didn't like a bunch of it so I decided to look up some tips and ideas. Guess what? I did not find a single tip, idea or system besides "I just got rid of half my collection" and that is wasting so much money! OMG!!! It bugs me... So I came up with a few ideas of my own!

  • Write down every item you own. This can help because lists are visual and it will make you go through the entire collection. It is also easier to pick and choose when you see how many powders, brown eyeshadows, or pink lip glosses are actually in your possession!
  • Pick which ones you wish were gone. The awful eyehadow? The flaky foundation? What about that lipstick you used once just to discover the awful texture and no refunds sticker? Write them all down and number them. This gives you another visual help to see how many items there are and gives some structure.
  • Collect them all. Get a basket, makeup organizer, or something else to place all these items in. You can still use the good makeup but this way you know where all the items are that you want to use up. As long as you keep it IN FRONT and not hidden, they should start getting used up.
  • If there is anything that is just dangerous to use like if it breaks you out, doesn't have any pigment or you cannot stand the crap, just put it in a different basket and collect the empty items. Another visual thing to keep you going is to see how far you have come!
I have used up many things using this system but I do have one more idea for the shopaholics among us...
  • For every 2 items used up in a single category of makeup, you may buy one more. (powders, blush, lip gloss, neutral eyeshadow, mascara)
  • You can make it harder by having very small categories (red lip gloss, shimmery neutrals, etc)
  • Or easier with more basic categories (Powder face products, lip color, lip balm, eye makeup, etc)
  • Unless you only have one thing in each category, this system should work!
Love you guys!

   Here are my January favorites:
  •  Eye shadow palette from LA Colors in Café au Lait: I love this! It has 6 neutral colors and it looks so nice!
  • Cover Girl LashBlastFusion Mascara: This gave a wonderful natural look with a little volume but lots of length! It looks so natural with one coat and three is very voluminous!
  • Be A Bombshell lip gloss in Hot Mess: This looks neon red but looks great over a bright pink stain for beautiful bright lips! It may be too bright over red though! (that's what I do for stage)
   Here are my January Empties:
  •  ELF Eyelid Primer $1: This is my favorite eye primer and now I need to use up some others before I use my new one! I am going to use the Hard Candy primer next!

So that's it! Tell me what your empties or favorites are in the comments below!

Project Reduction 2013

This is a variation of the project ten pan. I don't like just using up products and then buying more. It just doesn't work for me. Although I do have plenty of products that I don't like or is old and usable but not for very long. So this is why I have created the Project Reduction. In the year 2013 I will use up as many products as possible. At the end of the year I am going to show you guys what I have used up!
I have made a list and currently have 70 things! A lot of them are samples but they still take up space. I will not stop buying stuff because a year is a long time! I am also not including body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. It is stuff everyone uses and would be too easy! So here is the basics of what I am going to try to use up this year!
  • Face Powders: I have way too many. I am going to use up 5
  • Concealers: 4 or more of these that are not very good
  • Brow Stuff: 5 brow things that aren't good enough!
  • Eye Shadows: Only a few are not really the best...
  • Lipstick: The CG Lip Perfection and Rimmel Lasting Finish lipsticks are the best I know!
  • Lip Gloss: I don't even use 75% of them :(
  • Lip Balm I really like Carmex, Nivia, EOS, Softlips, and a couple other random things but I have way more than that!
  • Primers: I only want to keep one face primer and one eye primer
  • Skin Care: Using up more means trying more!
  • Hair Care: A bunch of samples I don't really need...
Tell me if you are going to try this with me!

New Year, New Goals 2013

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I am so excited that the new year is here! I have some new year's resolutions to complete and I felt like sharing! Tell me in the comments what your resolutions are!
  • Give Thanks: Everyday, God gives me something to be thankful for and most days I don't realize it. My goal is to write down 365 reasons to be thankful by the end of the year; one a day. I have been thinking about doing this for a while and decided that I should start recording it in the new year!
  • Dust Out the Makeup Drawers: I have been trying to find a way to finish up a bunch of my products but I don't want to do a project ten pan or something. My goal is to finish everything that I have hit pan on within the year. I know it does not seem hard but I don't like to use extra stuff just to use up my products.
  • Do Well in School: I am starting up a new, online public school that has a very rigorous curriculum and I want to do as well as I possibly can. My goal, although a bit cliché, is to get good grades and learn the material.
  • Read, Read, and Read: I can never find the time to read except for 45 minutes a week during class. My goal is to finish the book/movie list that I got from a friend (before my birthday), read the Harry Potter series, Cassandra Clare's books, and many other great books! Since I will be at home, I will be able to have more leisure and reading time.
  • Clean Out My Desk: I need to fins a way to store all of my nail polish, makeup, and art supplies where it is not on top of my desk so I have more room. My goal is to keep my workspace clear and my beauty/art supplies organized and available. THen I will have more space for school and projects.
So I am sorry this is late but I wanted to get it out there before I forgot!

December '12 Favorites

This is my last favorites of the month! Oh my! Well I do not have much to tell you about so I will just jump right in!
  • ELF 100 Eyeshadow Palette: An array of colors to go very natural of very dramatic! And only $10!
  • CG TruBlend Mineral Foundation: I mix this with my moisturizer and I cannot believe how the finish is so gorgeous!
  • ELF Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal: I have been loving using this to highlight my cheekbones, nose, cupid's bow, chin and a bit on my forehead. it looks super natural and glowy! I have used this on my dark circles under my concealer and it was amazing!
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Alarm: I love the red lip! I used it during Nutcracker and I used it multiple times during December! It is perfect for a red lip because it is long wearing!
That all! What have you been loving?
