Haul-13;Part 2:Books

Books a.k.a. My Obsession:

1. Palace of Mirrors by Margaret Peterson Haddix: Cecilia knows that she is not just another peasant girl; she is actually the true princess who is hiding until the evil forces that killed her parents are vanquished. The commoner named Desmia is on the throne as a decoy. She finds it harder to study statesmanship and palace protocol at night and pretend to have nothing on her mind while she is scrubbing stains out of dirty clothes. Facing the danger ahead, she flees to the palace with her best friend Harper to take charge and cease the throne. The problem: Desmia believes a whole other story!

2. How to be Bad! by E. Lockhart, Sarah Mlynowski, and Lauren Myracle: Three girls who couldn't be more different have one thing in mind: get out of Dodge a.k.a. Niceville, Florida. Vicks is the wild child fry cook whose boyfriend left for college and doesn't return any of her calls; Mel, the good girl in expensive jeans who just wants everyone to like her; and Jesse, the trailer-dwelling human morality meter who's discovered a life altering secret. They all have a reason to climb in Jesse's mom's station wagon and go on a road trip. Hearts will be broken, friendships will be tested, and a hot stranger will change the coarse of everything. If they don't kill each other first, not only will they have a road trip to remember, they will have friends for life.

3. Heist Society by Ally Carter: When Katrina Bishop was three, her parents took her to the Louvre...to case it. On her seventh birthday, her Uncle Eddie traveled to Australia...to seal the crown jewels. When Kat turned 15, she planned a con of her own: getting into the best boarding school and leaving the family business behind. Although it proves harder than expected. Soon, Kat's friend and former c-conspirator, Hale, brings her back to the life she tried to escape. Why? A priceless art collection of a powerful mobster has been stolen and he wants it returned. Only a master thief could pull this off and not only is Kat's dad on the suspect list, he is the list. He is caught between Interpol and a deadlier enemy, he needs her help. So, she thinks that tracking the paintings and stealing them back even though it is a nearly impossible job is the best way to go...

4. The Secret Rites of Social Butterflies by Lizabeth Zindel: When Maggie starts her senior year of high school at the ritzy all-girls Berkeley Prep, she hopes to make new friends. Who knew that she would be invited into the most popular clique at Berkeley, or that she'll be trapped to join their secret society, the Revelers. They know how to have a good time but are deadly serious when it comes to collecting secrets of today's teens to teach future generations. When she is first seduced by their sophistication, Maggie figures that there is more to their passion than meets the eye.

5. Goddess Boot Camp by Tera Lynn Childs: Phoebe, who recently discovered that she was a descendant of Nike the goddess, is finding out that supernatural powers are hard to learn. She moved the small island Serfopoula after her mom married a Greek guy and moved across the globe. Little did she know that she would be surrounded by Greek god descendant. Because she cannot use her powers very well and Greek gods have been known to smote those who use their powers recklessly, Phoebe has been enrolled in Dynamotheos Development Camp aka Goddess Boot Camp. Now she will be learning her powers, training for the marathon at the Pythian Games (the only athletic event bigger that the Olympics) and getting though Goddess Boot Camp with her love life and sanity intact!
