Oil Painting Starter Kit

So I have just started an oil painting unit in my art class and I always loved the idea but I never learned how. I am in love! I cannot think of any media that I love more! I was told what we need to start at home and I thought it would be fun to share!
  • Oil Paints: Obviously if you want to oil paint you need paint. Getting a few good quality oil paints is better than getting a really inexpensive kit with 30 colors. This will be a good choice to get plenty of white because the colored pigments go a long way when mixing! Quality before quantity!
  • Paint Brushes: As soon as a brush touches oil paints, it has to be used for oil painting. It will not work for watercolor of acrylics because those are water-soluble, and oils and water don't mix. This should take most of you budget just getting quality brushes.
  • Brush Roll: I can show you guys how to make your own brush roll to keep you expensive oil brushes in! It is extremely cheap and cute and easy to do!
  • Palette: You do not need to spend more that a couple bucks. Do not use plastic though (the Turpenoid with eat through it)! Just get a piece of glass like from a frame and put masking take around the edges and voila! You have a pocket friendly palette!
  • Metal Palette Knife: This can help you mix colors and even paint! It isn't an extreme necessity but it does make it easier! Make sure it is metal though because the Turpenoid will eat through the plastic ones! You only need one palette knife.
  • Turpenoid: Not Turpentine! Turpenoid is the odorless paint thinner for artists! It makes the paints more smooth and liquidy but it takes a lot longer to dry.
  • Canvas or Wallpaper: I am not really sure what else would be appropriate to paint on but I have seen these work!
I can do more in depth posts about the paintbrushes, paints, and other stuff!

November '12 Favorites

So for my weekly post, I am doing a November favorites because it is easy and simple to get me back in the groove!  What are your favorites for the month of November?

  1. Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation: This has been so nice to my skin in this super dry season we are going through! It blends well and stays on when set with a powder. The coverage is about medium so its not really heavy but it does hide small blemishes and helps the dark circle under my eyes.
  2. Covergirl LashBlast 24HR Mascara in Very Black: If you do not have a good makeup remover, do not get this. It will never come off! It is not even water proof and it stays forever! Only one makeup remover has gotten it completely off (Up and Up Eye Makeup Remover) and then one is ok (Neutrogena Waterproof Makeup Remover Cream). It does not clump or flake though so that is a plus!
  3. E.L.F. Brightening Eye Quad in Day 2 Night: This has a pale, golden yellow, a deep burgundy/berry, a forest green, and a shimmery golden bronze. These are the perfect colors for Fall and Winter. It was only a dollar and makes great looks from natural to dark and smoky.
  4. Essence Gel Liner in Night in Paris: Black gel liner that is smooth and has not dried out yet.  It is manageable and stays on all day! It is perfect for the super thick winged eyeliner that I have been loving all month!
  5. Baby Lips By Maybelline: I have gotten 3 (Coral Crush, Twinkle, Hot Pink) this month and love them all. Sadly my dog loved Twinkle so much that she ate it. They are so moisturizing and it is saturated with color that lasts at least an hour if not more! The coral and Twinkle are limited edition though so if you want them, Hurry!
  6. N.Y.C. Translucent Loose Powder: This is what I use to set my foundation everyday so I am running low. As soon as I am done with this, I am going to use E.L.F. HD Powder in Translucent when I need to use it.
I know I don't have many but if you want reviews or tutorials on anything, just post requests! I will get to it as soon as possible! <3>

Here is the packaging on the outside. There are ten little windows that show the top row of eyeshadows. The packaging has held up really nicely and very sturdy!

There are 20 eyeshadows and ten lip colors in a little drawer. The colors are actually very saturated and last fairly long. The light ones turn to shimmer and the darker ones fade a bit after a while.  They have a pleasant smell and are not too gloopy :) I wont go into the individual colors because I don't use them enough to go any further.

Strawberrie Stuff is Back and Better

Hey everyone! I know...it has been forever! High school is so much harder than I thought. I really want to have good information for you guys but that takes time, which I don not have any! I recently got a laptop from Black Friday shopping and thought "What the heck? I may as well try at least once a week." That will give me some time to get ideas and make sure quality is all that is there!

Thanks for not giving up on me, you guys!  I won't be able to do the requests from before because most of them are for back to school time, so make sure you request some new posts and stuff! I will also have a lot more dance related things but that will be extra to my weekly post. BTW, I am officially on pointe and already have my second pair of pointe shoes! I love it!

So make sure you comment a request or tip, follow and tell your friends that I am back! <3 p="p">
